The Spatial Ecology Group focuses its research on the ecology and evolution of species interactions - with an emphasis on plant-animal interactions (seed dispersal, pollination, herbivory).
We address fundamental and applied questions. Fundamental questions focus on the ecological and evolutionary processes shaping the distribution of species and the assemblage of communities, across natural and anthropogenic landscapes.
Applied questions address the impact of global change (inclusing habitat loss/fragmentation, biological invasions, climate change, and eutrophication) on ecosystem functions and services, and the development of management strategies to prevent, mitigate and/or foster adaptation to such impacts.
For this purpose, we develop transdisciplinary research on the science-policy interface using an adaptive co-management framework.
